Tataouine & Chenini: Mythical Star Wars Locations Tour

4.9 (15 verified reviews)

About This Experience

Nine hours rather than twelve, at the same price as the longer Tataouine runs. That is the shape of this one: the same headline sites, less time in the vehicle, and the highest rating of any Djerba departure in our catalogue at 4.9 from 15 reviews.

The route goes to Ksar Haddada and Ksar Ouled Soltane — the two fortified granaries that between them carry most of southern Tunisia's Phantom Menace credits — and to Chenini, the Berber village built into the cliff, where lunch is a traditional Berber meal in the village itself.

Guiding runs in English, French, Arabic, German and Italian, and the reviews single out the guides' handling of mixed-language groups more than anything else. Several also mention that the day feels unhurried despite being full, which is the usual complaint about this itinerary elsewhere.

Entry fees to the sites are included alongside lunch and transport, so the ticket price is close to the real cost of the day.

Good to Know & Caveats

  • Pickup is available from any kind of accommodation on the island, but the operator needs an exact address — ideally a map pin — or the vehicle can run late.
  • Your pickup time arrives by WhatsApp or email the day before, not at the moment of booking.
  • Drinks are not part of the included lunch. A four-star reviewer's only complaint was that this was not made clear when drinks were offered at the table.
  • The listing describes the day as wheelchair accessible. Chenini is built on a slope with uneven ground, so ask the operator directly what that covers before relying on it.
  • Fifteen reviews is a small sample. The rating is excellent but it rests on fewer bookings than the big Djerba operators.

Meeting Point

Pickup from any accommodation on Djerba — hotels, guesthouses and apartments alike. Give an accurate address, ideally with a map pin; the operator sends the exact pickup time by WhatsApp or email the day before.

What Travelers Say

Rated 4.9/5 by 15 verified GetYourGuide travelers.

A very nice day. Very well organised. There were three nationalities in our group and the live guide was able to strike the perfect balance in explaining in the different languages, not to mention their very pleasant humour. We had time to enjoy each stop. The day was very busy, but at no point did we feel like we were rushing. Even for the drop-off, the live guide took us to a place with a breathtaking view. Really very good. With a beautiful sunset to top it all off. A day trip to do.

The trip was great, we had a lot of free time, the views were amazing and we felt very safe and taken care of, but still independent. I want to especially thank the driver, who was fast as the lightning bolt, and the guide and the whole team behind the tour. Thanks to them we were on time for the bus. Really amazing service.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this shorter than the other Tataouine tours?

It runs nine hours instead of eleven or twelve, mostly by trimming the stops that are photo halts elsewhere. The two ksour and Chenini are all still on it.

When do I find out my pickup time?

The day before, by WhatsApp or email. The operator asks for an accurate address with a map location at the time of booking.

Are entry fees included?

Yes — the listing includes entry to the sites visited, along with lunch and transport.

Is it really wheelchair accessible?

The operator says so in its description, but Chenini is a cliff village with uneven stone paths. Contact them through GetYourGuide and describe your requirements before booking on that basis.

What languages do the guides speak?

English, French, Arabic, German and Italian. Reviewers repeatedly praise how the guides balance a mixed-language group.
