The Star Wars locations are six to eight hours from Tunis by road, which is why almost every day trip on this site leaves from Djerba or Tozeur instead. The day ends on the dunes near Douz with a sunset and a night in a tented camp at Sabria.

Day two runs west across the Chott el Djerid — the salt lake that stood in for the Lars homestead exterior — to Tozeur, then up into the mountain oases at Chebika and the Tamerza waterfalls, with Ong Jmal and Mos Espa on the itinerary before the long return north via Kairouan.
